Global First: Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor to Deploy No Fewer Than 20 UBTECH Humanoid Robots Within 30 Days

2025-05-14

In a major step toward advancing smart and unmanned manufacturing, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, the powerhouse behind the Forthing brand, is deploying no fewer than 20 Walker S1 humanoid robots from UBTECH within its vehicle production facilities. These robots will be utilized across key stages of complete vehicle manufacturing to enhance efficiency, automation, and intelligent operations.

As a strategic manufacturing base of Dongfeng Motor Corporation in southern China, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor plays a pivotal role in independent R&D and vehicle exports to Southeast Asia and beyond. The company boasts comprehensive capabilities across all four major automotive production processes and operates advanced commercial and passenger vehicle facilities in Liudong. With an annual production capacity of 75,000 commercial Vehicles and 320,000 passenger vehicles, Forthing-branded products are exported to over 80 countries and regions, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

In alignment with its transformation towards new energy and intelligent mobility, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor has launched the all-new Forthing , which includes the Forthing V9 luxury smart electric MPV and the Forthing S7 intelligent electric coupe. These models reflect the brand's commitment to high-end intelligent mobility and further solidify its leadership in the new energy segment.

As part of a strategic collaboration with UBTECH, Forthing is introducing the Walker S series humanoid robots into its automotive manufacturing processes. Following extensive testing and real-world application trials, the company is now integrating these robots into multiple tasks on the production line, including seatbelt inspection, door lock testing, headlight cover inspection, bodywork quality checks, tailgate inspection, interior evaluation, fluid refilling, front axle assembly, material sorting, vehicle logo application, configuration programming, label printing, and parts handling.

Looking ahead, UBTECH is driving the evolution of humanoid robots from stand-alone autonomy to swarm intelligence. In a pioneering milestone, multiple Walker S1 units have successfully completed coordinated multi-task training across various complex manufacturing zones, including final assembly lines, instrument panels, quality inspection, and door installation. Tasks included collaborative sorting, handling, and precision assembly, marking a global first in synchronized, multi-scene humanoid robot operations.

This evolution poses new challenges in multi-robot coordination at production scale. To meet these demands, UBTECH has developed its proprietary BrainNet architecture and the Internet of Humanoids (IoH) framework to support swarm intelligence across software and hardware. Powering this system is the world’s first large-scale multimodal reasoning model tailored for humanoid robots—serving as the core of a self-evolving intelligent ecosystem.

The collaboration between Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor and UBTECH reflects a shared vision for the future of intelligent manufacturing. The two sides are expanding their partnership to explore the application of humanoid robots in smart factories, industrial logistics, and supply chain automation. As a new force in productivity, humanoid robotics is rapidly emerging as a global technology frontier.

Forthing remains committed to integrating AI, robotics, and new energy technology to reshape automotive manufacturing and bring smarter mobility solutions to global customers. With cutting-edge innovation and a forward-looking strategy, Forthing continues to lead the way in building intelligent, efficient, and globally competitive vehicle production capabilities.
